BYLAWS
BURNET EX-STUDENTS ASSOCIATION

ARTICLE I
NAME
The name of the Organization shall be BURNET EX-STUDENTS ASSOCIATION.
ARTICLE II
PURPOSE
The purpose of the Burnet Ex-Students Association is to encourage and motivate former students of Burnet High School to reunite with their classmates, teachers, and friends by hosting the BHS All Class Reunion every five years and to support current BHS graduates in achieving their higher educational goals through providing scholarships in association with the Hill Country Community Foundation.
ARTICLE III
GOALS
- Establish a method to keep the members informed of all decisions made that affect the All Class Reunion and all fund raising activities including the scholarship donations.
- Make plans and preparations to fund the aforementioned activities.
- Secure the date, time and location for the All Class Reunion.
- Solicit donations for the scholarships in the name of the Hill Country Community Foundation, Burnet Ex-Students Association Endowment.Promote spirit, pride and honor for Burnet High School by reuniting as many ex-students as possible and encouraging attendance at the All Class Reunion.
ARTICLE IV
MEMBERSHIP
Membership is available to anyone who has been a student, board member or employee of the Burnet School District.
ARTICLE V
DUES
Membership dues shall be set by a majority vote of the Board of Directors and dues shall be for a period of five years. Dues shall become payable at the start of each five year reunion.
ARTICLE VI
OFFICERS/DIRECTORS
The officers shall consist of Chairman, Co-Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer. Directors shall consist of six members of the organization. All officers and directors shall serve for a period of five years beginning at a meeting following each All-Class Reunion. The officers and directors of the association shall conduct the affairs of the Association between the meetings of the members. Any decision made by the officers and directors shall be subject to a majority vote of those officers and directors present. The Chairman or Co-Chairman may call a meeting of the officers when needed.
ARTICLE VII
NOMINATIONS
The chairman shall appointment a Nomination Committee of three members to solicit members to serve as officers and directors of the Association. The Nomination Committee shall make its recommendations to the members at a meeting after the All-Class Reunion. The recommendations by the committee will in no way preclude nominations by active members from the floor. An election by a majority vote of the members present shall be made and officers and directors of the association elected for the ensuing five years.
ARTICLE VIII
ADMINISTRATION SUCCESSION
Should any officer or director become unable to complete their elected term for whatever reason, the vacancy shall be filled for the unexpired term by a majority vote of the remaining officers and directors.
ARTICLE IX
COMMITTEES
The Chairman and/or Co-Chairman shall appoint committees as needed. Set committees will be: Venue, Fund Raising, Entertainment, Parade, Set-up and take down, Registration, Promotion, and Memorials/Memorabilia.
ARTICLE X
MEETINGS
General meetings shall be held at least two times a year. Meeting date, time and location shall be set by the officers of the Association. The members shall be notified 30 days prior to meeting date.
ARTICLE XI
PROCEDURE
The conduct and procedure of all meetings of this Association shall be in accordance with Robert’s Rules of Order for parliamentary procedure, except where the rules have been specially amended by a majority of the members present and voting at a general meeting.
ARTICLE XII
AMENDMENT
The Bylaws of the Burnet Ex-Students Association may be amended by majority vote of the members present at a general membership meeting.
ARTICLE XIII
DISSOLUTION
Upon the dissolution of the Burnet Ex-Students Association and after all liabilities have been paid, all remaining funds will be transferred to the Hill Country Community Foundation, Burnet Ex-Students Association Endowment.
